When I design your garden I want you to feel this, regardless of the amount of space you have. A garden should entice you to spend time in it, and it should encourage you to nurture it. It should give you the opportunity to share it, and it should host important events. And in doing all of these things, it becomes a part of your home.
HOW IS YOUR GARDEN DESIGNED?
The bones of the design ensure that it sits seamlessly in it’s built environment, and the detail in the skills used, the materials chosen, and the habitats enriched crafts the garden. This is individual to each garden. Historical and ecological research to analyse your site informs the design and I really like to link to local heritage skills and sustainable approaches because I find that they hold the potential to enrich your garden experience. There is a great deal of visual communication throughout, it’s always interesting and enjoyable!
WHO DO I WORK WITH?
Private clients approach the studio directly, we have a first conversation on the phone and then meet in person.
Architects and interior designers, I work with as part of a collaborative design team.
Sponsors and charities who want to develop a show garden, we meet in conjunction with the RHS and build a working relationship from there.
I provide very thorough design-led garden consultations for private clients who are looking for guidance and inspiration to create their own garden, this can be online or in-person, you will leave armed with as much inspiration as you can handle. I talk with horticultural groups and write for publications, please contact the studio directly to arrange. And I am an advocate for promoting women in construction, for which I am very happy to provide any encouragement I can to, just get in touch.
TJ
I progressed into the garden design profession having followed a path of working in horticulture understanding plants and soil, moving into landscape construction and building the gardens I designed, and then honing and deepening my design understanding at Inchbald School of Design. This breadth gives me the experience to not only design but gently craft your garden. I am a great land-based traveller (full of stories!). I spent a brilliant year with The Old Way in the UK and Africa learning rewilding for resilience and ancestral skills. And, alongside my private practice, I tutor in garden design at Inchbald in Chelsea, London.
